Roles and Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the efficient and effective operation of the Medical Records department by:
- Delivering the medical records to different service areas and patients as requested.
- Collecting and keeping medical records from different service areas including ancillary departments.
- Checking and re-attaching scanned and attached medical records.
- Comply with the hospital’s policy for the destruction of medical records.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures for the Medical Records Department in accordance with JCI standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with other hospital departments and healthcare providers to ensure accurate and timely documentation and reporting of patient information.
- Conduct regular audits on medical records for identification of documentation gaps and improvement areas.
- Provide training and education to staff on Medical Records policies, procedures, and best practices, including compliance with JCI standards.
- Prepare and submit medical record-related reports to the Ministry of Health and Sports (MOHS) and any other required reports.
- Be responsible for the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD-10-WHO) coding of all inpatients for MOHS report.
- Develop and implement Service Improvement Projects (SIPs) within the department and coordinate with other departments to achieve objectives.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of the Medical Records Department, including the quality of the services provided and the productivity of the staff.
- Any other duties assigned by Supervisors.
