Roles and Responsibilities:

• Ensure proper identification, labeling, and handling of all laboratory specimens, including patient identification, lab numbers, sample collection tubes, anticoagulants, and transportation conditions to prevent invalid patient results.
• Assess the acceptability of blood samples after centrifugation and determine if they meet the required quality standards.
• Notify Senior Medical Technologist, Assistant Manager, and/or Manager of any abnormalities or deviations observed in the specimens.
• Have the authority to reject unsuitable samples for processing and promptly inform the relevant department to recollect the specimen.
• Record the reason for rejection in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and inform the appropriate personnel.
• Perform analytical processing using automated and manual methods as necessary.
• Conduct calibration for laboratory machines and prepare quality control (QC) materials.
• Participate in and contribute to the hospital’s quality improvement plan, ensuring adherence to established protocols and procedures.
• Report any abnormal patient results or equipment malfunctions to the Senior Medical Technologist, Assistant Manager, and/or Manager.
• Collaborate with the Laboratory Manager in the Check and Act phase of the Hospital PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycle to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain a clean work area and perform technical clean-up at the end of each shift, including assisting in maintaining an adequate supply of materials at each workstation.
• Ensure the accuracy of all tests before reporting the results.
• Assist the Senior Medical Technologist, Assistant Manager, and/or Manager in all aspects of delegated duties.
• Communicate effectively with team members and other healthcare professionals.

Job Requirements:

• DPMS or B.P.Sc or B.Med.Tech(Medical Laboratory Technology)
• Minimum 1 year experience in a Hospital laboratory, with a focus on histopathology.
